Brief info
Hayley has over 20 years of senior management experience in environmental and education management working for government. She is the Chief Director of the Agricultural Education and Training and Head of Elsenburg College, Western Cape Department of Agriculture. Film is her passion and she participates and contributes every chance she gets depending on the availability of time.
She holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Environmental Management from the University of Cape Town and a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Creative Writing from the University of the Western Cape. She was a Research Fellow in a multi-disciplinary project (the Global Change Project) based in Paulshoek, Namaqualand, which focused on socio-economic research, particularly around livelihood options, the interface with the management of the communal area, and the relation to land reform policies, specifically redistribution, tenure and rural development. Hayley has worked on a variety of projects with EcoAfrica (www.ecoafrica.co.za) including tourism initiatives to develop a tourism route from historically disadvantaged areas such as Langa through to Northern Cape areas and post-mining livelihood alternatives for communities in the Richtersveld.
Hayley has worked extensively with members of Seahorse Films and its sister company FOP Films (www.fopfilms.com). She has actively contributed to storylines and film shoots in the Richtersveld, Namaqualand and the Amazon River.
